明日大致多雲 PRECIPITATIONS
by 何穎雅 Elaine W. Ho and Fotini Lazaridou-Hatzigoga

‘Precipitations’ is a video work filmed in Kowloon during the rainy spring of 2013, less a forecast than a portrait of the city, drawn via the journeys of several people involved to varying degrees with art and social activism. It falls within the precipices of an everyday and the realm of change, where such change comes about by the breadth of a footstep, with the crossing of a threshold, through the struggle for sociopolitical transformation.

Focusing on four groups spread around the vicinities of Yaumatei, one of the last remaining neighbourhoods of the city with vestiges of the old, precipitation occurs as the speed and density of Hong Kong’s way of life and as movement in search of another direction.

This video was made between March-July 2013 during a residency at WooferTen community art space in Hong Kong.

Profile

Elaine W. Ho (HK/USA) works between the realms of time-based art, urban practice and design, using multiple vocabularies to explore the micropolitics, subjectivities and the alter-possibilities of an intimate, networked production. The act of describing takes on a number of forms – a kind of grammar, a documentation, a gesture, a biography – or a project in Beijing known as HomeShop. She is the initiator of the artist-run space, active from 2008-2013, and currently a fellow at the Institut für Raumexperimente in Berlin. She likes to drink coffee and tea mixed together and is a frequent contributor at www.iwishicoulddescribeittoyoubetter.net.

Fotini Lazaridou-Hatzigoga works between the realms of art, architecture and urban research to explore the possibilities inherent in the intersections between social and physical spaces. Such context specificity finds working manifestation in curation, artistic production and collaborative organization, all of which point to an interest in systems and structures as modes of being and working together. She was one of the co-organisers of HomeShop in Beijing, active from 2018-2013, is co-founder of PROGRAM initiative for art + architecture in Berlin and also serves on the committee for the Berlin chapter of the Public School.
